Sound Control Level 1
Install fiberglass batt (A) in floor system. Using a R-19 fiberglass batt (A) will muffle footsteps above and make loud speech faintly heard and conversational speech usually inaudible.

Sound Control Level 2
Install fiberglass batt (A) and resilient channels (B) for drywall. The addition of resilient channels adds 3-5 STCs or up to 12 decibels. This method will make loud speech usually inaudible.

Sound Control Level 3
Install fiberglass batt (A), resilient channels (B) adding another layer of drywall (C) and a Mass Loaded Vinyl noise barrier deadens sound to above 50 decibels (loud shouting cannot be heard). |
